The Art of Overcoming
Over the summer of 2022, Steve and I were given the opportunity to be on our first podcast. Our friend, Dr. Eric Scroggins invited us to be a guest on his podcast called, ‘The Art of Overcoming.’
It was a very hot day in the Pacific Northwest, and even hotter in the recording studio which was in a 100+ year old historic building with not much circulation. Boy, were we sweating!
One of the things that made this podcast so special was that we were being interviewed by two people we consider friends. Dr. Eric’s co-host was pastor Jeshu Ram. Jeshu was in our lives when our daughter AnnaJoy went to heaven. Dr. Eric and his wife Saundra had poured into us as we were starting our ministry. All of this helped to put us at ease as we shared the story of AnnaJoy for the first time in this type of setting.
Our prayer is that you will find Hope for tomorrow as you listen to our story.
While We’re Waiting
One afternoon, I was googling for any ministry that provided weekend getaways for bereaved parents. In my search I seemingly “stumbled” upon the ‘While We’re Waiting’ website.
While We’re Waiting was founded by two couples, both bereaved parents. They host free faith-based retreats for bereaved parents all across the country.
I got so excited and reached out to Jill, one of the cofounders, to learn more about their nonprofit and glean from what they were already doing for bereaved families.
After a few back and forth conversations, Jill asked if Steve and I would be willing to be on the ‘While We’re Waiting Podcast.’ What makes this podcast unique is that it is a podcast for bereaved parents and by bereaved parents.
A take-away from our interview was how Jill, a fellow bereaved mom, took the time to get to know us and AnnaJoy. It really touched our hearts! We came away from that interview feeling heard and refreshed.
The podcast aired the following October. A month or so later, something happened that we didn’t expect. A bereaved mama from across the country reached out to us! She heard our podcast and our story resonated with her. We were able to connect and share the Hope that we have found even amongst the death of our daughter.
Thank you While We’re Waiting!

Bridget’s Cradles
A few days before Christmas we recorded our 3rd podcast. Ashley Opliger, the Founder, President and Executive Director of Bridget’s Cradles, had invited us to be on her podcast, ‘Cradled in Hope”.
A funny little tidbit is that we recorded this podcast from our bedroom; our laptop balanced between two tv trays with a couple of cups of coffee too. Very professional!
One thing that sticks out to me is the sweetness of the podcast. We were simply having a conversation between 3 new friends about our babies in Heaven and the God that we love. My heart was so touched when I learned that Ashley and I were pregnant with our baby girls during the same time period. And here we are over 8 years later, and the Lord has knit us together. He knew of the connection to come and the healing that it would bring.
Wow, God is so Faithful!
Thank you Ashley!
